Department Zoology

Department of Zoology was established in the year 1978 and started imparting knowledge in honours from 1989 to cater the need of the students in the southern Odisha. The department offers regular courses in B. Sc. Zoology. The department is having a mini museum comprising fauna from most of the animal phyla and a seminar library. The laboratory is well equipped with facilities and modern equipments for conduct of molecular biology experiments. The department conducts regular weekly seminar and organizes study tours and field trips to nurture the young minds and inculcate scientific values in them. The department of Zoology has always remained in the forefront of academic and co-curricular activities of the College.

  Many eminent teachers serve this Department in the past and brought high reputation to the institute. At present, the department is run by two faculty members. The faculty members are highly qualified, well informed and are excellent teachers. The students of the Department are disciplined, sincere, and hardworking and bring many laurels to the department in the recent past. Our students are consistent rank holders in the Berhampur University and many of them got admitted to post graduation courses in state and national level universities and institutions every year. The students of the Department have qualified in many state and national level competitive examinations and are working in prestigious organizations of India. Many students also excelled in the field of research and as academician.

Our faculty and students continue to put their best effort to contribute towards updating and upgrading the department to make it a “Centre of Excellence” in various emerging areas of Zoology.
