Library


Working Hours: The Library is open from 10:00 A.M. to 04:00 P.M. on all the working days including vacations with usual lunch break except Sundays and other Public Holidays. However,the issue counter will be closed half an hour before the closing hours.Stock: There are about 53032 books in the Library an different subjects. There is a lending Library (Book Bank) which lends the text books to the students. The borrower has to pay 1/10th of the total cost of the book. The library is also subscribing to Magazines, News Papers and Journals.

Admission to the Library: All the regular students of the College are automatically the members of Library. All the members of the staff (both Teaching and Nonteaching) are also regular borrowers the Local VIPs are sometimes allowed by the Principal to use the Library. As we have the closed access systems the student borrowers are not allowed to enter inside the Library. Students can take books from the Library on production of slips stating the name of the author, the book and the serial number along with the Library Card. For the members of the staff, the books will be issued only after entry of books in the loan register.

Ruels: Books will be issued only after entry in the loan register and the entry attested by the borrower.

Each borrower must examine the condition of the books before they are issued, otherwise in case of mutilation discovered later, the responsibility will lie with the borrower.

Books should be returned within the period allowed to a borrower.

The following is the list of the maximum number of books that may be issued to various classes of borrower along with time allowed to keep the books.

The member of the staff of the college may take books from the Library on signing loan register.

Students must take out library books on cards which will be given to them after they are admitted to the college. If a student loses his/her Library Card a duplicate card will be issued ot him/her on application and on payment or Rs. 2/- only.

When the date of return of the book falls due on an authorized holiday it should be returned on the Library on the next working day.

All library books should be returned to the library before the college closes for summer vacation.

Whoever might have a library book in his/her possession, he/she should return it to the library whenever he/she receives requisite notice from the library authority.

Books issued from the library must be returned to the counter assistants and to nobody else.

No marginal or other notes or marking shall be made on in the library books nor shall any pictures or pages be removed or lost or disfigured. In such cases the borrower may be asked to replace the copy damaged by him/her. If replacement is not possible, he/she will have to pay ten times of the current price of the book.

No books will be issued to the borrower who has not cleared up the overdue charges if any imposed.

All those who may happen to be inside the library or in its neighborhood are expected to observe strict silence. Any sort of conversation except what is absolutely necessary for the library is not desirable.

Spitting, Smoking, Sleeping inside the library and pulling one’s legs bellow the furniture are strictly forbidden.

Reissue of the same book to the same borrower is possible only if no one else requires it.

Reference books, periodical, maps, dictionary, encyclopedia, university Question papers, Course of Studies etc. should not be taken out of the library. Periodicals can be issued to the members of the staff at 04:00 P.M. and they should return the same on the next day before 10:30 A.M.

If the periodical is lost, the borrower has to replace the copy.

No student can enter the stock room unless he/she gets permission.

The above rules are also applicable to the Book Bank Library and Lending Library of the College.

The library premises should not be used for any purpose other than reading or consulting the books and periodicals of the library.

Breach of the above rules must be reported by the Librarian to the Office-in-Charge or to the Principal for necessary action.

Book Bank
Procedure followed for Lending Books from the Book Bank:Every year in the month of August the College Library invites application-in a prescribed proforma from the students for issuing books from Book Bank. The students are required to get the recommendation of the concerned H.O.D. on the application form before submission to the library. After the last date of receiving application forms the books are distributed among the students on the basis of the total marks secured in the last qualifying examination. The number of books that will be allowed to a student depends on the total stock of books and the number of applicants. 1/10th of the price of the book is collected bycollege office and receipt is shown by the student to the library before the book(s) is issued to the student. The book is realized from the student before filling up the form for Council and University Examination. In case of non-examine the book is realized just before publication of result of the promotion examination. Separate stock and issue registers are maintained for the Book Bank.

Rules for Book Bank:
The loan of the books from Book Bank will be subject to the following rules-
The student is not entitled to disfigure, deform or mutilate the book borrowed. In case a student is found guilty of such activity he/she will be required to replace the book or pay triple price of the book. The current price of the book will be taken into consideration at the time of collection of the fine.The student will return the books borrowed before the date of filling up forms for Annual Examination. The non-examinee students will return the books before the announcement of the result of their class promotion examination.

In the event of loss or damage of a book(s) borrowed the student will report the matter in writing immediately.

In all matters pertaining to loan and return of books from the Book Bank and the degree of punishment to be imposed on the defaulting students, the decision of Principal shall be final and binding.

Reading Room:The library provides reading room facility to the students and staff. The reading room remains open during office hours and the students are provided with Text Books, Journal, Magazines and News Papers. A register is maintained for students to sign with their class and roll number so as to maintain a record of the reading habits of the students. Students are advised to avail themselves of the facility.
